College Tuition is Vital to All American Universities Including PC Pro Schools

Heading to college incurs a number of costs, among which is the ever-present college tuition. With students paying an average of nine grand a year just to attend classes – not including books, supplies, or lab fees, mind you – one must wonder what colleges do with all that money. It is assumed that tuition goes to pay some basic costs for the university. After all, it cost money to keep buildings lit, cool, warm, sound proofed, ventilated, or what have you. No one expects instructors to work for free. But does tuition cover more than that? The answer is yes, it does.  Tuition has an immaterial component. By paying tuition, a student contributes to a university or college and does their part to ensure that the institution can maintain its history while progressing in an innovative fashion toward the future.

It can be viewed in a very simple model as to why PC Pro Schools students are charged per credit hour for their education. It is a product being sold, although an immaterial one.  A student buys this product as an investment in their own future. In doing so, each student takes up space, uses a seat and table, incurs some costs for lighting, environmental controls (heating or cooling), time with the instructor, and creates some wear and tear on the buildings, landscaping, and other areas of the college.  Each of these things eventually adds up to maintenance bills, utility bills, wages paid, repair invoices and the like. All of these things are paid for through tuition (and state taxes for public universities).

As I mentioned before, tuition is charged based on factors that often seem obscure.  Usually tuition is not a set amount, but rather varies based on the number of credits signed up for. It usually is expressed as so much per credit or so much per credit hour.  A credit or credit hour rating for each class is figured out by the amount of time the class takes in a classroom every week, which can be split up over two or three days or even be offered in a solid block. While there are some classes that will have odd credit ratings because they take more or less time in the classroom, the cost per unit remains the same. You might find that taking three to five classes or 12-15 credit hours entitles you to a discount.  Plus many colleges charge more for those who are not native to the state the campus is located in.

Be aware that there are other fees that are charged in addition to tuition.  PC Pro Schools charge extra for room and board, meals, laboratory and technology use. Each of these will incur an additional change. Books may be required but they are not included in tuition either. While you may find technical colleges that offer package deals for tuition and materials, this is not the standard definition of what tuition is. So even when books or other materials are required those supplies are not included in the tuition fees.

PC Pro Schools Tuition paid for by the student does benefit the student in other ways aside from the obvious classroom time spent in lectures or testing.  It is ultimately the student who benefits from the college being there.  The utilities paid for are for the comfort of the student to allow them to focus on their studies. The instructors are employed to teach, just as the student is there to learn. The buildings and furnishings are there to provide a pleasant setting that allows learning to progress with little interruption, and as such the maintenance of those places benefit the student too.  Of course, it is upgrades, new buildings, better technology, innovative library materials, that are constantly being created that keep tuition flowing into the coffers of the universities.

So there you have it, College tuition is a vital component to the college experience. Each student pays per credit hour for the time they are in the classroom.  Each student also reaps the collective benefit gained from attending that university, including access to libraries, teachers, and buildings they would otherwise lack.  The ultimate benefactor of paying tuition is not the college itself, but rather the student. In this way, they are able to invest in their future and improve their lives while ensuring that the campus they have chosen to attend is there for future generations. Instead of complaining about tuition, students should seek the best fit when looking for a college.
